Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is known as the heart of Europe. Easy to get to from most other European destinations, and rich in both culture and history, this city’s undeniable beauty and mysterious charm draws in visitors from around the world. Prague has been nicknamed the City of a Hundred Spires, and it’s easy to see why. Hike up any hill or to one of the many tower viewpoints for magical views of the city below.

Prague’s atmosphere is the perfect blend of urban and traditional, modern and classic. Smoke rises from the red rooftops in the mornings as high heels clack on cobblestones and trams zip through the streets. During lunchtime, you’d be hard-pressed not to find Czechs enjoying a nice beer at the pub during their breaks. At street level, the buildings might appear old and worn, but if you look up, you’ll find notice the intricate details of preserved Gothic architecture at the top of the buildings. A visit to Prague is full of monuments, museums, and memorials where you can absorb endless knowledge and stories of Communism, WWII, and times past.

After a long day trekking through the streets, up to the Prague Castle, and across the Charles Bridge, stop into a classic Czech restaurant and enjoy some pivo. The Czech Republic is home to the world’s best beer, and they are proud of it! Be sure to pair that beer with a hearty local dish like goulash or fried cheese, so you’re eating like a real Czech. Even in the winter, a meal and some good company at a traditional Czech pub will warm you right up.
